About me.
Hey hey
I’m Khairi Akmal, a UI/UX designer based in Singapore. When I’m not designing, I’m usually at the gym, out for a run, or watching football. I’m a big Arsenal FC supporter and always up for a good match.
My interest in design began in school through Design and Technology, where learning about ergonomics showed me how people interact with products. Later, studying game design and animation in college strengthened my eye for interaction and flow, naturally guiding me into UX.
I enjoy creating experiences that are intuitive, meaningful, and human centered. If you’d like to collaborate or chat about a project, I’d love to connect.
Visual Identity
My choice of the Audiowide typeface — combined with the custom-shaped K and A (name initials)— is influenced by my long-time fascination with the clean, futuristic aesthetics found in Star Wars.
I’ve always been drawn to the way the franchise uses geometry, streamlined forms, and minimal but expressive glyphs to convey technology, clarity, and world-building.
I was fascinated by how certain letterforms can communicate mood, culture, and narrative. This curiosity eventually shaped my motivation to explore UI/UX design, where clarity, structure, and intentional form matter just as much.
Visual Experiments
Outside of UX, I enjoy creating abstract digital illustrations to explore visual storytelling and composition. Inspired by electronic music from ODESZA, Porter Robinson, Petit Biscuit, Illenium, and Flume, I experiment with rhythm, energy, and layered forms to translate sound and emotion into visuals.
I apply these ideas visually by constructing compositions that guide attention, create tension, and resolve into clarity. By shaping rhythm, contrast, and flow, I aim to evoke emotion in a controlled way, reinforcing how visual design can influence perception, mood, and overall experience.
This approach strengthens my ability to design experiences that are not only usable, but also engaging and memorable.
